This course aim to produce trainers for forklift operators who can competently deliver professional and quality training for forklift operators that complies with the ACOP.
The approved Code of Practice (ACOP) for Training Operators and Instructors of Powered Industrial Lift trucks outlines a standard of training that should be provided by forklift owners, managers and trainers of forklift operators. The ACOP also outlines the requirements that must be met by trainers of forklift operators seeking Department of Labour registration and approval of their training material (which is managed by Competenz).

Duration
|
|
The course consists of a three eight-hour day indoor and outdoor practical training sessions, and is usually only conducted for groups of not less than four and no more than eight participating trainees. Courses can be provided at client sites or at or Auckland or Christchurch branches.

Pre Course Requirements
|
|
Applicants for this course must meet these criteria:
- hold a current full Class 1 (Car) New Zealand Driver Licence; and
- hold a current forklift operator certificate issued by a registered forklift trainer
Applicants must also present at least 14 days prior the course an original copy of a letter from their employer which certifies that they:
- are a safe and competent forklift operator;
- have a safe and through knowledge of the safety rules applicable to forklifts operated in their employer's workplace;
- have experience and training in the delivery of workplace training;
- have successfully completed workplace health and safety training applicable to the employer's workplace;
- have developed a set of training material (including training aids and test material) that is endorsed by the employer; and
- are recommended by their employer as suitable to train their employees

Course Content
|
|
The course will:
- refresh and test the trainees' knowledge in the safe and competent operation of forklifts;
- require preparation of training lessons and delivery of mutual instruction (teaching sessions addressed to their course peers) and critique of that instruction; and
- expose trainees to external critique by external training auditors (which may include the National Registrar of Forklift Trainers)
During and on completion of the course, the trainer team will discuss the trainee's performance with the trainee, highlighting both good and bad training techniques, and/or forklift operating practices that would affect the safety of their employer's business operations. Their reaction to such criticism will form part of the assessment of their performance during the course. A written report will be provided to their employer at the conclusion of the course to assist in the trainee's professional development.

The course consists of four, two eight-hour days (8.30 am to 4.30 pm) approximately four months in duration, and is usually only conducted for groups of not less than twelve participating trainees.

This Certificate explains the fundamentals of First Line Management. It is an ideal course for anyone who is seeking promotion into a Supervision or Team Leader position, and is appropriate for anyone who is already doing that work but has had no formal training.

Course Content
|
|
Participants will receive training and assessment to achieve unit standards all of which contribute towards the National Certificate in Business Management (Level 3). The course is conducted in four modules:
- Module 1 - Communication
- Module 2 - Quality Management - Interpersonal Communication
- Module 3 - Quality Management - Implementation of Policy's
- Module 4 - Performance Management Communication Skills
